News For November 1, 2020

  • Membership for current CCUA members has been carried over from last year and will not be collected for those who have paid last year's dues.
  • November 1, 2020 Updates
  • I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. We had our first meeting as a CCUA Board this past week since the election. It was a very productive meeting and alot was accomplished. Here is a synopsis....
  • Mike Maslowski has done a complete makeover of the CCUA website and it is very impressive. It should be up and running by mid November. It definitely has a new look and I think all of you will appreciate the time and effort he has put in.
  • If any of you have any pictures of yourself umpiring, please send the best one to Mike at snrmike@yahoo.com and you could (If you make the cut!) be featured on the photo page!
  • Rob discussed our finances and we are in pretty good shape...especially since we are awaiting our Arbiter rebate check and no incoming dues..
  • We are introducing a 1 year membership fee for all new umps to the CCUA for $20 due to the shortened season. If you know of any umpires who may be interested in joining, send me their names and details. parbrbrave@yahoo.com.
  • We also discussed upgrading our umpire improvement department. Starting in December, we will have weekly rules questions...more details to follow...But there will be prizes!
  • Assigning is just around the corner. Here is what I have for you. I plan on starting my assigning for junior colleges at the end of this week. I only have 3 junior colleges this spring...COD, Moraine and Harper. The City Colleges will not be playing any sports this year due to COVID and Robert Morris combined with Roosevelt as a school. I am awaiting word if they will have a JV program and if I will assign it.
  • I already have the master schedule with East Suburban Catholic League. They will be playing on Monday, Tuesday and Saturdays starting May 8th for 6 weeks until June 12th. I am hoping to get the Catholic League master schedule this week....they are playing league games on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
  • With that being said, please hold/block Monday, Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturdays for the CCUA starting Monday 5/3 through June 12th. Update your ARBITER ACCOUNTS NOW. Dan and I are depending on you!
  • I am not sure on the amount of non-cons they will play, but I will be sending out an email to CL coaches asking for their entire schedules by the end of the year. It is my goal to have all conference dates assigned by Thanksgiving for the soph and varsity levels.
  • I will be sending out regular Arbiter blasts as I find out info. Our next board meeting will be Nov.19th...and minutes of those meetings will be posted on our website when it becomes available to you.
  • Not sure when we will have our first general meeting. It may be a Zoom meeting depending on Covid guidelines...Hope all of you had a wonderful Halloween and GO Bears!!!
