News For November 18, 2020
I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy! Please continue to make wise decisions regarding the pandemic.
I wanted to update you on what the CCUA Board is currently working on and the assigning process for the Spring 2021 season. From the CCUA perspective, the CCUA Board had our first meeting two weeks ago and have another board meeting scheduled for this Thursday night. At our last meeting, we addressed the following items:1) The CCUA website (www.ccuumps.com) is up and running. In my last email, I asked umpires from our group to send us action photos. Only 1 umpire (Carl Lucas) sent us a picture to post - so please forward those to Mike Maslowski at snrmike@yahoo.com. 2) The board voted and decided on the dues structures for the upcoming season. Remember those members who paid dues last spring will not need to pay dues for this year. I will be contacting those who did not pay their dues to retrieve them. We do want to expand our organization so... New Memberships for this year only is only $20. Please have any of your new umpire friends sign up on our website and join our group. 3) Rob Hacker gave a Treasurer's Report and we looked at where we stand financially as an association. We will continue that discussion at the meeting on Thursday. It was a campaign pledge to resume giving a gift to our membership. If anyone has any wonderful ideas, please email me and I will present your ideas to the Board. (parbrbrave@yahoo.com)4) We addressed updating our CCUA Constitution. It has not been looked at since 2011 - ten years ago. We will be making changes based on past practice in the last decade. On issues that deal with changing the Constitution, we will post those suggestions on our website (prior to Christmas) and have you include your thoughts and suggestions. I would have rathered done this in person, but due to the pandemic that is not possible.
If there are any things you would like me to bring up to the Board for tomorrow's meeting, please email me today or tomorrow so I can add it to our agenda. Our Board meeting notes will be posted on our website. Please check it out...Mike Maslowski did some great things with regards to how it is setup and its aestetic value. Thanks so much Mike...great job!
With regards to assigning...I have been busy with work, but my plan is to have JC assignments completed this week. As I said earlier, I only have 3 schools this spring due to COVID....With regards to high school assigning, I have already inputted the East Suburban Catholic varsity and sophomore dates for Marist, St. Patrick and Notre Dame. These are the 3 schools we assign... I plan on starting inputting the Catholic League games this week and start assigning by Thanksgiving. I asked you a month ago to keep Monday, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays open for CCUA assignments. I know UMPS has started to send out requests for games. They use Horizon Web not Arbiter...so please keep those days open for CCUA..You do not need to physically block dates in Arbiter...
If you have any questions, email me....I want to wish everyone and their families a wonderful Thanksgiving...enjoy! - Paul
