January Update #2 1/25/2021
First and foremost, I want to thank our 30 members who took time out of their busy schedules to be at our first general meeting this year. It was very productive, especially from an umpire education standpoint. Rich Panovich did an excellent job going over prior and new quiz questions and Al Albert gave a thorough explanation of the new HS DH rule for this upcoming season. With slides and examples, we all should have the ability to enforce the DH rule properly. Thanks to Mike Maslowski for going through the new and improved website (for those who missed the meeting you can find/view it on the website www.ccuaumps.net). Also to Rob Hacker for updating us on the financial status of our CCUA organization. Both Dan and I discussed assigning and the fact we all need to be flexible and understanding with the current state of affairs with the pandemic.
We also addressed our Constitution....we have 2 new Board positions passed by the group...1) the Assignor and 2) Director of Umpire Recruiting. We are currently taking nominations for the second new Board position, If you are interested or would like to nominate a member, please send me an email at parbrbrave@yahoo.com
As you may or may not know, there is the possibility the IHSA may again move the baseball season. This upcoming Wednesday the IHSA will release season start and finish dates. There are some rumors that the season may be moved up to its normal time. We will have more information later this week.
Here is our next quiz....#6...
Please...let's have 35 members complete it....Two questions...should take you five minutes...possibly less..
